Better scaling etc. of 3D objects

Hi All,

1

at this point in time it is really really difficult to explian to a user HOW the system of scaling and 3D models works in layar. There are just to many variables involved. Distance, radius, scale etc. etc.

VISAR, or other Layar cms users just do not get it, and I can't explain it in an easy way.

An object of x meters high in a specific geolocation should always be placed in perspective relative to the viewers distance (however small or big) and not dependent on some "unclear" / hard to explain calculation.

Perhaps it's easier to "skip" the absolute alt parameter. Placing an object on a specific pre defined altitude, not relative to the viewer is not a "stable" feature. There are so many ways in which that can go wrong, mainly the GPS has no accurate heighth fix that a publisher can not bank on a consistent user experience. Let alone that the layar should recognize the height at ground level (ground level at the Andes is a bit different than ground level in Amsterdam). It only raises questions and unclarities at this point in time.

If one wants to use it to "fix" a 2D image to a building ore something, just wait for your imagerecognition technology....

I may be quite wrong on these issues, but please let me know if I'm overlooking something.

Hope to hear from you.

Jeroen

We hope that with the getPOIs API v6.0, these are much clear to developers.
