Hi,
the issue seems to be fixed. My developer used the new SDK and followed the instructions. I got pictures and even the icons in map view now.
Just download the new SDK 1.1 and follow these additional instructions:
A localization file has been added to the player. Developers need to add it to their project under the "Resources" directory (not physically, just adding it to their project is sufficient) and make sure it is bundled with their application
Developer need to add the following frameworks to their application (note this is in addition to the information currently in the documentation):
libsqlite3.dylib
CoreTelephony

Hi
I was being helped on this by Alex & he recently said they'd found an issue - QAREV-209 - whatever that is - and they are looking into fixing it. Haven't heard anything more & am getting worried as my deadline looms. Has anyone else found any solutions?

This thread is marked as answered. Where is the answer? I got the problem, too. And I would like to get a comment by Layar, so I can tell something to my client.

I have a similar problem - the test shows no errors yet I can't see images on the phone and 3D models always fail to load. Sound usually works, but nothing else. Very frustrating & I can't see what I am doing wrongly.
I'm using Hoppala. I've tried small file sizes, low polygon counts, the Layar & Hoppala sample models, logging out of Layar client between tests, changing the altitude of assets.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi, I have the same problem. I try the image you sugest in http://dl.dropbox.com/u/26865353/multilingual1.jpg but it doesn't work. However when I open the layer through Layar in my iPhone I can see the image. The error i get in xcode is:
ImageIO: <ERROR> JPEGNot a JPEG file: starts with 0xff 0xd9 ImageIO: <ERROR> JPEGNot a JPEG file: starts with 0xff 0xd9
So it does not seem to be a specific server or image problem. Also interesting is the fact that the dimensions of the image are shown correctly, but the image itself is black. In combination with the error from the debugger: ImageIO: <ERROR> JPEGNot a JPEG file: starts with 0xff 0xd9 it would seem this is a bug in the player library code, please correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm using the latest build of the player library: LayarPlayerSDK26May
Device: iPhone 4
iOS: 4.3.3
XCode: 4.0.2

I have the same problem. The debugger gives the following error:
ImageIO: <ERROR> JPEGNot a JPEG file: starts with 0xff 0xd9
The images are valid jpegs and the urls are correct and unescaped, they also show correct in the debugger.

A jpeg from the layar website also fails to show:
